LLKD-40 Long Island
Greenbelt Trail Conference Cache on the LI
Greenbelt
In 2008 the Long Island
Greenbelt Trail Conference will celebrate its 30th
anniversary. The LIGTC has created more than 200 miles of
hiking paths on Long Island. Our trails include the Long
Island Greenbelt Trail, the Nassau Suffolk Trail, the Long Island
Pine Barrens Trail, the Walt Whitman Trail and the Long Island
Seashore Trail.
This cache is on the Long
Island Greenbelt Trail. It stretches nearly 33 miles north to
south from Long Island Sound to the Atlantic Ocean. It passes
through five New York State Parks (Sunken
Meadow, Caleb
Smith, Connetquot
River, Bayard
Cutting Arboretum and Heckscher).
The trail meanders through Lakeland
and Blydenburgh
County Parks. It also bisects Sweetbriar Nature
Center. A list of caches on the LI Greenbelt trail is
available
here.
Cache is a medium sized old
style lock n' lock. It is located only about 10 feet from the
trail. Would not try and park on Route 111 as the area is a
No Stopping zone. Included is a log book and pencil and
various swag. There is copious amounts of poison ivy on the
side of the trails leading to the cache but none in its general
vicinity.
As usual please rehide
better than you find it. Please keep our trails
clean.
