Positioned on a spur extending into Blakeley Reservoir, just off
the Kirklees Way.
A short detour off the Kirkless Way track is well worth it for a
visit to this fantastic overlook of Blakeley Reservoir.
The cache sits on top of a prominent spur, separated from the main
slope by a deep stream.
The present Wessenden Reservoir was built first (Act in 1836, shown
on 1854 O.S. map), followed by Wessenden Head built 1877-1881, work
on Butterley was begun in 1891, and completed 1906, and work on
Blakeley Reservoir was began in 1896, completed 1903, bywash
completed 1904.
