Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
A series of caches to take you on a meander through another of
Horsham’s hidden treasures. The caches don’t particularly follow
any of the marked trails but none are too far from the beaten path.
Parking can be found at N51 04.163 W000 17.852
A couple of points to note:
- There is extensive tree cover and GPSr reception may be
patchy! (Feedback on co-ordinates from early finders would be
appreciated)
- Assume that none of the caches have pen or pencil in. Please
leave everything just as you found it :).
Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods near Horsham are open all year and are
free to enter. They are particularly notable for their contrasting
wildlife. They can be explored through self guided trails of one
and two miles, and a 320 metre easy-going, surfaced path from the
car park.
The woodland scene is ever changing through the seasons providing
year round interest. Leechpool is an ancient woodland covering 53
acres (21.4 ha.) and includes Oak, Ash, Hazel, Hawthorn, Holly,
Blackthorn, Sweet Chestnut and Scots Pine. Owlbeech consists of 55
acres (22.26 ha.) of remnant heathland which is being encouraged
back to its former glory, supporting a rare selection of flora and
fauna.
The cache is a small camouflaged container with room for small
swaps.
