Flight 255 Traditional Cache

Perhaps the most infamous plane crash in Metro Detroit aviation history. Northwest Flight 255 took off from Detroit Metro Airport on August 16, 1987, stalled and crashed into I-94 just a few seconds later. The crew's failure to use taxi checklist to ensure flaps and slats were extended and lack of electrical power to the aircraft takeoff warning system was reported as the cause. All 155 people on board died except for one sole survivor, 4 year old Cecelia Cichan. In addition, 2 people on the ground perished as well for a total of 156.
