The South Portage Bug Motel is located near South Westnedge Park and is a very short walk from the pavilion / parking area at West Lake Nature Preserve.
The cache location is along a vacant lot, owned by the City of Portage, which separates our property from South Westnedge Park.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would do your hunting during daylight hours only as I really don't wish to explain caching to the local law enforcement in the middle of the night... PLEASE, NO NIGHT CACHING!
During softball season this can be a very busy area. If there is a game in progress on the nearest diamond please save the cache for another time. Please try to use a little stealth at all times as we don't want curious muggles checking out the cache...especially if it contains bugs and coins belonging to others.
The cache is in the photo below and you will want to enter from this spot also. If you have "Diamond 3" at your back your in the right place.

There are some electrical boxes with a short wooden fence on three sides. Go around this little fenced area (from the left side would be easiest) and move behind it. Once there the "path" should be fairly obvious with no bushwhacking required.
NOTE - Travel Bugs & Geocoins really truly are NOT trade items so don't feel you have to leave something in order to take one. At the same time you don't have to leave a bug to take one either. They are meant to travel so if you can help them along then by all means do so!
This "Motel" is in all reality nothing more than a traditional cache. We've got plenty of room for travellers and love to watch them pass through but its perfectly fine if there are none here at all. The South Portage Bug Motel after all is nothing more than the name of the cache. We hope you enjoy your visit!
