Geocache Description:

Te Tapui Reserve, Heavy Tree cover

This cache is located in the Te Tapui Reserve. This area incorporates two volcanic peaks of age 5.6 million years old. The two peaks are Te Tapui and Maungakawa.
The literature says this is a Moderate grade tramp. of about 2 hrs 30 min return.
Its quite hard to find the reserve but well worth it.
the bush is beautiful and the view from the summit of Maungakawa (496m) west towards Cambridge and east towards the Kaimai Ranges.

Note:
This is not the actual Te Tapui walk as we now know. Its 2 km further up the rd.
I went up the hill and found an open area with reasonable GPS fix. Placed the cache. I wondered further up the hill looking for more markers and then got somewhat lost and had a devil of a job to find my way back.
The bush looks the same and I got quite disorientated.
Warning-mark your entry point in this area.
people with the newer GPS units with the Sirf 111 chips should be ok. The difficulty relates to the difficult GPS fix.!!

Cache is a clear coloured systema container about 300 ml with log sheet and a few items.
