Right near the "exit" to the La Paz waterfalls.
I'm an avid geocacher, and I've come to Costa Rica to attend language school for a year and found that this beautiful country was sorely lacking many geocaches. Well...I'm on a mission to change that. Once I leave next year, my friends who are coming for school will be maintaining the cache. A student will maintain the cache, and if at any time I'm unable to find someone to maintain it, I will deactivate the cache.
If you are coming to Costa Rica, this is a must see! The La Paz waterfalls are about 1 hour from the San Jose Airport, or about 1 1/2 hours from downtown San Jose. To get a good idea of what you will see - visit their website at www.waterfallgardens.com - it will also give you directions from downtown and from the airport on their site.
This cache can be found without entering the waterfall gardens - but if you are going that way - you need to go see them. The "easiest" way to find this cache is to go up to the entry of Peace lodge La Paz Waterfall Gardens hotel, natural park and wildlife refuge. Go see the monkeys, birds, butterflies, snakes, frogs, etc. After that, walk through the park on a paved (but wet and non-stroller accessable) path. This will take you to three of the main waterfalls there. Bring a poncho if you have one! You WILL get wet (of course that's part of the fun). Once you get all the way through, you will arrive at a shuttle that will take you back to the beginning of the park. Don't take the shuttle yet! Walk down the road a bit to find the cache. Take care when going - this is a busy street, but the cache is off the road. If you bring a travel bug, make sure it's small - either a geocoin or a TB tag with a small bug. Please let me know if you have any questions before you head off on your adventure!
***If anyone could bring a new log book and a ziplock bag to put the cache in - that would be GREAT! I don't know the next time I'll be able to get up there!! Many thanks!!***
