No need for vexation !. Rowen is one of the most delightful villages in North Wales.
The neat stone cottages with their well tended gardens has led to the village winning The Wales in Bloom competition on a number of occasions. Due to transport problems at the time the houses were constructed, people sought local materials to build their homes. Most of the houses are built of local stone, and the majority of this stone was formed in the Ordarician period. Because of the difficulty in splitting and dressing the stones, many large stones can be seen in the construction of these cottages. You need to go a little further into the village to see the best of these.
The church is also worth a visit – we were given a personal tour.
There is a pub just across the road; although the whitewashed building near to the cache used to be a nice tearoom, we believe that it is now closed (maybe just for the winter).
Cross the river – bridge or ford ? – to get to the cache. Watch out for thorns.
