Along a centuries-old American Indian trail between Lake Mitchell in Cadillac and West Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City are 33 simple, numbered, white, concrete markers that identify the route traveled through forested hills and open meadows by ancient tribes and later by the Ottawa, Chippewa and Potawatomi Indians.

The coordinates above will take you to the vicinity of marker #16. The placement of the markers started in the 1940s and final completion in 1987.
Artifacts, burial mounds, and fire pits have been found along the vanishing trail. Most of the markers are adjacent to current roadways, others are deep in the woods, (like this one!!!)
See the old cache #GCGB1D for a list of all the markers! This cache is now a small Lock N Lock (The ammo box went missing.) with small trading items. It also has an unactivated Geocoin for the First To Find Prize. The first three finders will have their names listed here for the next 100 years. Trade even or better.
The roads in this area are bad. Have FUN and post some pictures. I like to see how the area changes with the seasons.
