Geocache Description:

Five Brothers & Three Cousins

Derelict buildings, paddocks and grass are all that is left of this 5 acre block of land that was once home to a thriving market gardening community. One that boasted a population of about 80 Chinese New Zealander’s, which began in 1927 with eight Chinese Immigrants.

The land was worked and a strong co-operative was built that produced, in true Chinese fashion, high quality vegetables for markets around Canterbury. With time the family empire expanded to include laundries, fish & chip shops, a chicken farm across the road, the Snowdrop Ice Cream Factory and a vegetable shop. The last link to this existence, the vege shop in Burnett Street, closed at Christmas 2006 when the owner retired.

To the casual passerby the land appears abandoned, the buildings, at their best, neglected. But they tell a story shared in the Ashburton Guardian 11 Nov 2006 of a happy place, a place of sharing, strong community spirit and strong on family.

OK. Now you are at the location. This is the main gate to the property. As it is private, there is no need to go onto it. To get clues to solve the final location, you will find one rapid number in either direction up and down the road from the gate - about equil distant, and not too close and on the same side of the gate.
These are each three digits.
Take the lower of the two, call these digits a, b, c
Take the 4th, 5th and 6th digits in the South coordinate, call these d, e, f

Take the higher of the two, call these digits g, h, i
Take the 5th, 6th and 7th digits in the East coordinate, call these j, k, l
New east coordinate = E 171 4(g+j-1) (k-h-1)((l-i)x2)1
