Geocache Description:

For this, my 50th hide, I wanted to cook up something just a bit different. So, here's a little puzzle for my fellow cachers.

Your adventure will commence at the above coordinates. At this location, you will find a container which contains 4 possible answers to the puzzle along with 4 sets of coordinates, one of which is the correct location for the cache.

Also, this is where you will start gathering the information needed to solve the puzzle.

The Story Behind the Name
Growing up as a youngster, one of the hobbies I enjoyed was watching and performing magic tricks (aka, leger de main, prestidigitation, etc.). One of my favorite tricks was the so-called Linking Rings (sometimes called Chinese Linking Rings), in which "solid bands of steel link and unlink at the magician's command."

It just so happens that there is a certain structure along a stretch of US 23 in Pikeville that resembles the linking rings. Almost every time I pass by I think of that well-known illusion. As you have probably guessed by now, this linking ring look-alike represents your challenge!

Now, Let's Get on With the Hunt!
Starting at the coordinates given above, and proceeding in a northernly direction, you will need to study, examine, analyze, contemplate, and otherwise ponder upon these "linking rings" so as to help you determine the correct answer to the question below. Note that the rings are in two different "sections" - a short section and a much longer section, with a gap between them. You will need to include both sections in your effort.

In order to solve the puzzle, you merely have to answer this simple question:

HOW MANY RINGS ARE THERE IN TOTAL?

Don't fret too much. If your answer is close enough, you'll be OK.

Now, back to the aforementioned container. In it you will find the possible answers and the sets of coordinates (A, B, C, and D). Pick the set of coordinates that corresponds to your answer and then you (hopefully) will have the location for the container. Once at the correct location, you may or may not need to conjure up a little magic to help you find the container.

Happy Hunting!!

One more thing: Just as a good magician never reveals his secrets, please do not reveal the puzzle's answer to other cachers!! A revealed secret spoils the fun...

There is a certificate for the First to Find!!
