A short hike on State land to a Revolutionary Soldiers abandoned farm area
Morrow Mountain was named after a Revolutionary LT.who settled here after the war. This high spot in Madison Co. was the setting for his farm land and then later for a Fire Tower which has since been dismantled. SUNY Morrisville has brought students here for years to study conservation practices and the surrounding floral life. Many of these smaller trees in the large hillside across from the gray farm on Fire Tower Rd. were planted in the mid 70's and we have had a chance to watch them grow. The road to the top is seasonal but may be accessed by snowmobile in the winter.
