Geocache Description:

A short walk to the boundary of a local nature reserve where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll and beautiful views.

There are a number of footpaths that lead to this location - you could park on Lumb Carr Road near to the Hare and Hounds pub, or start off from the Peel Tower car park further up on Lumb Carr Road and take the footpaths to Moorbottom Road (no public vehicular access).

If you start from the former, take the footpath that passes to the right of the new housing estate. Once past the buildings, the path splits off in three directions - the middle path is the most direct route. It's usually muddy and can be a little dark under the rhododendrons!

Whichever way you go you will find yourself in Redisher Woods Local Nature Reserve. Look out for the beautiful old beech trees, although sadly some of them have succumbed to disease. Then there's a very steep climb up to the heathery terrace. Once you are near the top it is a good place to catch your breath and admire the view!

You'll also see plenty of birds in this area, and more than likely spot a few rabbits, catch sight of a fox or even glimpse a shy deer if you are lucky.

That strange breed of amateur athlete known as the fell runner can also be spotted in this locale - they can be identified by the look of pain and/or intense concentration on their faces. Walking up this hill is hard enough but they run up it - you have to admire them!

The cache is an old ice cream box bearing a Ground speak label containing log book, pencil, sharpener and a few swaps. PLEASE NOTE: It's a couple of feet away from a drystone wall - no need to move any stones in the wall!
