Die Matthäuskirche war die zweite Kirche im Dorf – die erste ist
im Cache Gotteshäuser: ST.Nicolauskirche Lehrte zu
entdecken.
Die Matthäuskirche wurde 1873 von Conrad Wilhelm Hase erbaut, um
die zu klein gewordene Nikolauskirche zu ersetzen. Die
alteingesessenen Lehrter Bauern waren von der Idee einer zweiten
Kirche nicht beeindruckt, so dass sie schließlich ein Plumpsklo
direkt vor den Eingang bauten. Die Kirche hats überstanden…
Sie hat seit ihrem Bau einige Renovierungen über sich ergehen
lassen, als letztes wurden die beiden Eisenglocken im Jahr 2004
durch Bronzeglocken ersetzt.
Um den Cache zu heben, sollte man vielleicht den
Sonnabendvormittag meiden, da in dieser Zeit Markt ist.
Andererseits ist dann auch die Kirche geöffnet, und von innen ist
sie ebenfalls sehenswert!

The Matthäuskirche was the second church built in the village –

The church has been built in 1873 by Conrad Wilhelm Hase to
replace the Nikolauskirche which was too small for the growing
population. The old Lehrte farmers didn’t like the idee of a new
church, so they built a two-holer in front of the entrance. The
church didn’t care…
Since then the church has been renovated several times, the last
workings were the installation of two bronze-bells to replace the
old iron ones in 2004.
To retrieve the cache it could be best not to try Saturday
morning when there is the market. On the other hand the church is
opened during these times, and it is well worth seeing the
interieur.
