Ce secteur historique de Lorient, ancien
terrain militaire de la Marine Nationale, est depuis peu ouvert au
public tous les jours de 10h00 à 18h15. Accès, à pieds, par la
porte Gabriel (N 47°44.755' / W 003°21.344') ou éventuellement par
le petit portillon près du Quai des Indes (N 47°44.664' /
W003°21.293') qui n'est pas évident à trouver.
Dans le premier cas, Laissant l'hôtel Gabriel sur votre droite, il
vous faudra monter vers la tour de la Découverte pour vous rendre à
la position donnée où vous trouverez un point géodésique (discret)
donnant l'altitude très précise du lieu. C'est cette information
qui vous donnera la position de la cache finale calculée
ainsi:
N 47° 44,xxx' avec xxx = (Nb de m x 36) + 13
W 003° 21,yyy avec yyy = (Nb de cm x 3) + 37
Prenez ensuite le temps de vous perdre parmi les anciens bâtiments
de la direction du port militaire, fermé en 2000, témoins désormais
muets de l'époque florissante de Lorient. Saisissez l'occasion de
profiter du calme des lieus avant qu'ils ne finissent d'être
dépouillés de leur charme, dénaturés par des activités mercantiles,
ou transformés en cité administrative. Pour les passionnés
d'histoire ou d'architecture, profitez des visites organisées pour
découvrir plus en détail le précieux patrimoine du péristyle :
l'hôtel Gabriel, la tour de la découverte, les moulins, le
réservoir souterrain...

This
historic district of Lorient, previously military domain of the
French Navy, is since a few years open to the public visits every
days since 10AM to 6.15PM. You can enter by the "Gabriel" entrance
(N 47°44.755' / W 003°21.344') or also by the little gate beside
the "Quai des Indes" (N 47°44.664' / W003°21.293'), more difficult
to find.
In the first case, let the "Hotel Gabriel" at right hand and walk
toward to the "Discovery tower" to to find the (little) geodesic
point giving the accurate elevation of the place. This information
allows you to calculate the final position of the box as
follows:
N 47° 44,xxx' with xxx = (Nb of meters x 36) + 13
W 003° 21,yyy with yyy = (Nb of centimeters x 3) + 37
Then, take a while to walk among the ancient buildings of the
French Navy harbour commandment, closed in 2000, and henceforth
silent witness of the golden age of Lorient. According to event
dates, you can somedays visit also the "Hotel Gabriel", the
"Discovery tower", the windmills and the underground water
tank...
