Geocache Description:

Enjoy a peaceful walk on an interpretive nature trail at Wyandotte County Lake.

The Acorn Bridge

The trail takes you through the woods to the lakefront, where you can continue on to the Mr. & Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library, or sit down on one of the benches and enjoy a scenic view of the lake and of Stotler Cove.

The library and nature center offers scenic views as well from a large deck that overlooks the lake and butterfly garden. Inside they have a menegerie of turtles, snakes, and frogs, as well as a collection of taxidermied animals, including a bobcat!

Several Garmin GPSrs are available for check out. If you are a bird-watcher, bring your binoculars; the day this cache was placed, Naturalists Jon and Anne pointed out a flock of Cedar Waxwings to me.

The cache container is an ammo can placed 135' off the trail between markers 9 and 10. Although it may appear otherwise, parking at the trailhead, or at the library parking lot, is your best option. At the time this cache was placed the undergrowth wasn't bad at all, but summertime may prove otherwise.

Be sure to look for the other cache on this trail, as well as the cache at the library, which were placed as part of the America Recycles Day CITO Event that was held 11/17/07.
