The suggested start for the best walk is in Tebay village, just down from the church - a bridleway leads down to the river and a footbridge takes you to the other side. Follow the river around to the Viaduct - a pleasant walk and the further you go the quieter the motorway becomes. Some easy stiles need to be crossed but otherwise it's a flat walk. You get a nice view of Castle Howe - a motte and bailey on the east side of the Lune.
The cache can be reached from various directions, chiefly Tebay village or Low Greenholme, although the back road to Greenholme can be a tricky drive. If you want to come from the north, when Birk Beck is low it can be easily forded under the viaduct in wellies or boots; the Lune is very fordable in dry weather since it is quite shallow in many places. The cache is on the south side of Birk Beck.
A strange phenomenon happens at the cache site - the arch of the viaduct intensifies the sound of the water.
Note: No stones need moving to find the cache and you don't need to leave the footpath.
