Geocache Description:

Simple multi-stage in the new Kenwood Park. Stages 2 and 3 are located on the wooded nature trail. This cache hunt is intended to be kid-friendly (even if you're just a kid at heart) with a great nature trail and some simple math problems. Paved trails should be used for all but the last 50 feet. Parking is available at the above coordinates. Round trip journey is about a mile if you walk the full nature trail loop in counter-clockwise direction. Park is open from sunrise to sunset.

Kenwood Park, located off Hwy. 279 in north Fayette County, encompasses 172 acres of recreational activities and greenspace. The park's first phase opened on October 6, 2007, and the grand opening celebration included an informational event cache. Current amenities include tennis & basketball courts, a multi-purpose field with 8-lane track, sand volleyball courts, picnic pavilions, walking trail, wooded nature trail, restrooms, and a playground. The nature trail takes you through a sampling of different wildlife habitats including a lowland forest, wetland, pine stand, mixed forest, riparian stream and an upland hardwood forest. Wildlife sightings and evidence include deer, turkey, raccoon, squirrel, chipmunk, salamander, toads, frogs, barred owl, red-shouldered hawk, red-tailed hawk, and many species of woodpeckers and song birds.

At stage one, you will find a number (XX) that will help you find the next stage. Adding XX and 171 will give you AAA. Subtracting XX from 214 will give you BBB.
Stage 2 coordinates - N 33 31.AAA W 084 26.BBB. From stage one, you will start on the perimeter trail (white concrete) and pass the restrooms and sand volleyball courts on your way to the next stages. The perimeter trail will link up with the nature trail loop on the far side of the track. The two trails link together as a lopsided figure-eight.

Stage two has a great view of a small wetland area. What color is the drain cover? Convert each letter of the color's name using the substitution cipher where each letter of the alphabet is represented by a number which corresponds to that letter's position in the alphabet. In simplest terms, this can be written as A=1, B=2 ... Z=26. Since A is the first letter of the alphabet, it is represented by the number 1. B, the second letter, is represented by 2. Z, the last of the 26 letters in the alphabet, is represented by 26. Then, the sum total will give you YY. Adding YY and 108 will give you CCC. Subtracting YY from 433 will give you DDD.
Final coordinates - N 33 31.CCC W 084 26.DDD

Cache is a lock & lock container. This is a good place for children, but leave them on the paved trail when you get close to cache as there are plenty of stickers & poison ivy, then you can retrieve the cache and view it with them. Be alert for muggles when retrieving cache.

Cache ratings - Difficulty rating is due to multi-stage and basic puzzle/math component.

Congratulations to PIGPEN4x4 for First To Find!!!
