Geocache Description:

A wheelchair accessible cache just across the road from Quogue Wildlife Refuge. QWR and Helms Nature Walkway are no longer managed or funded by DEC. More information about the refuge can be found at http://www.quoguewildliferefuge.com/support.htm

Most locals know about QWR, but this is a little known nature walkway that needs some maintenance but is still a lovely walk. QWR has taken over responsibility for the boardwalk, but due to limited resources repair work is spotty. The worst of the rotten boards have been replaced but the benches still need work. The reeds have overwhelmed the observation areas but there is still lots of wildlife to see if you are quiet and observant. The container is a camo'd plastic jar I took from a cache in NC. I can't log that one until this one is listed!
