The Hidden Moorlands series consists of seven geocaches hidden around the Staffordshire Moorlands. This series will introduce the geocacher to some of the less well-known beauty spots of the district. This cache is located on top of Hen Cloud, a gritstone peak often overlooked by visitors, who head to the more well-known Roaches. The view from the top is spectacular, overlooking the Churnet Valley, Tittesworth Reservoir and the market town of Leek.
This is the final cache of the series. The co-ordinates above do not point to the cache, but to the nearby parking spot. In order to find this cache you must first find:
The North co-ordinates, from Morridge.
Ross Bridge is now archived, the west coordinates you need for this cache are: W 001° 59.296
Parking is available at the roadside. Choose your route up Hen Cloud carefully - don't be tempted to follow your GPS arrow! The best route to the top involves following the drive towards Roaches Hall and then bearing left through the woods towards the summit. Stout footwear is essential and be wary of the weather conditions!
