The coordinates above will take you to the entry of the Angels Camp Catholic Cemetery.
From there, you will need to go to 4 separate "resting" places to gather clues for the final stage.
Please note: The families I have chosen for this cache have quite a few different plots in this cemetery. Be sure you go to the listed coordinates for each stage.
You will be finding numbers for:
N38 04.ABC
W120 33.DEF
Stage One: The Whittle Plot
The elder Mr. Whittle was a friend of ours from when we lived in Angels Camp. He was a true gentleman and a man who could keep you entertained for hours with stories of ranching life. He told of cattle drives through downtown Angels Camp where business people would drape the windows of their stores so the bulls wouldn't charge their own reflection. His family emigrated from Australia in the Goldrush. Today, the family name can be found on the road leading to New Melones Reservoir.
Coordinates: N38. 04.620
W120 33.575
At this site you will find the coordinates for A: Add the final digit of Mr. Whittle SR's year of birth to the final digit of his year of death.
Stage Two: The Rolleri Plot
The Rolleri Family & Ranch was established circa 1800 in Angels Camp, California and at one time covered about ¾ of Calaveras County and parts of Tuolumne and Western Alpine Counties.
The family raised cattle and farmed to support the Calaveras Hotel in Down Town Angels Camp owned and operated by Olivietta, “Grandma” Rolleri and her family.
Coordinates: N38 04.631
W120 33.624
At this site you will find the coordinates for B and C:
Father Domingo Rolleri died in 19(B)0.
Mother Rose Rolleri died in 19(C)0.
Stage Three: Melones Plot
This plot contains the remains of Bruno Asrate and a number of unknowns removed from the New Melones Lake Project Area by the U.S. Government in 1974. Right next to this plot are the remains for Franklin H. Hasleten and Mrs. Livingston from the same Melone's area.
Coordinates: N38 04.655
W120 33.602
Note the number of "unknowns" that is published on the plaque. Subtract the first digit from the second digit to get "D"
Stage 4: Airola Plot
Manuel Airola, settled in Calaveras County in the early 1860s and owned a general store in the Melones area around 1870. Today, you can find Airola Road off Parrots Ferry Road .
Coordinates: N38 04.638
W120 33.587
At this site you will find the coordinates for E and F:
Father Antone Airola was born in 1(E)66.
Mother Louisa Airola was born in 18(F)5.
Now you’re ready to put those numbers together to get to the final set of coordinates:
This is the resting spot of four people.
The cache hiding spot is in the tree to the left of the mother’s tombstone.
Good luck!
Please bring your own writing utensil, be respectful of the final residents of this historic place, and please replace the cache exactly the way you found it so it doesn’t get discovered by muggles.
