This monument was one that we drove by many times over our years growing up in the area, but until recently didn't stop to find out the full extent of its meaning.

On May 3rd weekend of 2014, the Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society celebrated the Battle of the Longwoods 200th anniversary by renacting the battle to remember the soldiers who died in the battle on March 4, 1814. See pictures below. They also added a large granite monument commemorating the event.
