KVR # 3 - Hike Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

AnakeRose: Pretty sure this one is gone if no one is finding it because it wasn't hidden in a difficult spot. I don't live in the area anymore.

Geocache Description:

This is the 3rd in a set of 3 caches we placed on our walk along the Penticton-Summerland stretch of the KVR which is also the Trans Canada Trail. The set will take you on a 6km round trip, with each cache roughly a km apart. Please do not attempt these caches from Hwy 97!

If you are coming from Penticton, take the first left turn after the north bridge on the way out of town and follow the road around. If you're coming from the north, take the Sage Mesa Rd turnoff. If you feel energetic enough, you can start from the Trout Creek Trestle and walk/ride toward Penticton and vice versa (that’s a LONG way).

Please park here: N49 30.857 W119 37.481

There's an open area just inside the gate of the Pine Hills Golf course. You can park there at your own risk. Apparently they do lock the gate at night (even though when I called they said they didn't). So to be on the safe side park outside the gate on the road. There are other access points to the trail, but there's some question of ownership. So, to prevent any problems, please park at the coordinates.

If you have a suitable off road vehicle, you can drive out on the trail, but a regular road vehicle is not exactly recommended. You’re on the Trans Canada Trail and there are very few places to turn around. If you do decide to venture out in your road vehicle, please be extremely careful of other trail users.

You are looking for a peanut butter container with camo tape. There is no need to climb the hillside.

Bring your camera, the view is worth it. Hope you enjoy the walk!
