A straightforward cache in Raincliffe Woods near Scarborough
This is a regular cache containing a selection of the usual items as well as a log book and pencil.
It is hidden in Raincliffe Woods which are just west of Scarborough. This area of woodland is owned by the local council and has a range of footpaths through it. It is well-known to residents but a little off the usual tourist trail. There are several car parks from which paths will lead to the cache site which is slightly uphill. Best carpark is Sawmill Bank. It can be muddy but if you take the main path there are bricks embedded in the path. This makes it feasible with a pushchair or small people.
Some stealth may be required particularly at the weekend when Muggles may be out dog-walking. Also in May each year the local council holds a number of woodland events at this spot. Keep an eye open for remnants of these events in the form of straw bales and an 'Iron-Age' hut.
The cache is located about 20 yards outside the log circle at the edge of the clearing, downhill from the circle.
Tree cover can make the GPS signal jittery so please report DNFs as we can not be sure how accurate our reading was. If it is too hard to locate, we will reconsider. At the time of placing you could retrieve the cache without getting scratched.
