Remember the game of Chinese Whispers ? – information is passed verbally from player to player and it’s surprising how much the information can be distorted at the end of the chain – often humorously…It’s all about homophones, words that sound the same, but have different meanings.
In the skit below, the ‘Two Ronnies’ carry this to an extreme in one of their most famous sketches.
The 2 Ronnies Skit
In Ronnies’ opening gag, he requests “ForkHandles” instead of “FourCandles”. (Note spaces have been removed) The first letter of difference between these two words/phrases is ‘R’ and ‘U’. ‘R’ and ‘U’ are 3 letters apart in the alphabet; hence the numerical result of this homophone pair is 3.
Find the correctly spelt homophone results for the phrases below, and the location of the cache will be revealed.
Additional hints:
– Ignore any spaces in phrases as shown above.
– Only the least significant digit of the result is used to create the cache location, ie a letter difference of ‘B’ and ‘Z’ resolves 24, only the 4 is used.
– No swaps in the cache please, and bring your own pen.
Finally, the puzzle:
