Geocache Description:

This relatively easy to get cache is located on Persimmon Ridge Road which turns off Hwy 11 just past the entrance to Camp Spearhead in northern Greenville County. I did not want this to be too difficult as the real treasure is seeing some of the area along this road, and the trees can hamper GPS readings somewhat.

I saw this spot on the way to search for the Eva's Hairpin Cache and the Abandoned Cache which are both further up this road. The spot just begged for a cache.

.....To reach this spot, turn off on Persimmon Ridge Road, which is paved at first, but then becomes a well maintained gravel road that you can safely take your car on.*SEE NOTE following this* You need to go 2.0 miles up the road, (about 1.6 miles past where it turns to gravel). I give you this information in case you have problems with your GPSr getting a reading. It is on the Right side of the road as you go up. NOTE: the road has some washboard-type areas in spots, so be ready for a bouncy ride in spots. The road is fine for travel however.

NOTE: The cache is right off the road edge, about 5'.

***NOTE ADDED 5-24-09: A cacher reported that his car bottomed out 2 times going up from 276, so if your car is a low riding vehicle, be aware of that***

.....I rated this terrain as 2 because, while the cache is almost at the roadside, you must go down a short(4-feet) but somewhat steep section of bank to reach it. Definitely NOT wheelchair accessible.

.....You are looking for a medicine pill bottle about 4 inches tall and 1.5 inches in diameter. It is camouflaged but is also hidden from view in a natural hidey-hole. There is a hook on the top to help in removing it from its hiding spot. Please replace carefully so it is not easily seen. The bottle is large enough for the log and pen, as well as small trade items. (BYOP is still a good idea).
