Carmel-by-the-Sea: Sunset and Stealth
A
Geocaching Tour of Carmel-by-the-Sea
This
series is designed to offer a variety of geocaching challenges
ranging from level one to level three. Some of the caches will be a
quick and easy grab. The rest are located in a busy urban area and
may require stealth techniques, a high level of patience, advance
planning, or return visits.
Yes,
we have amazing sunsets in Carmel-by-the Sea. But we also have an
amazing performing arts cultural center named the Sunset
Center.
More
than seven decades have passed since this crown jewel of Carmel
first opened in 1931 as the "Sunset School" with Gothic inspired
graceful arches and a high-peaked roof. It was considered the
finest assembly hall of any school in the area and soon became a
performing arts venue for all of Monterey Bay and the cultural
heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Recently Sunset Center underwent a major renovation and
today hosts over 50 classical musical performances each
year.
The
complex is huge, spanning a two full city blocks. Somewhere, among
all that culture, is your cache. As with all the caches in this
series, you will need your best stealth tools to avoid looking like
a suspicious character. Please replace the cache exactly as you
found it.
As
you are driving around the many buildings, enjoy the spectacular
architecture of the auditorium, and if at all possible, take in a
performance!
