Try to imagine all the coming and goings and all the excitement here, when a nearby small National Guard base was converted to Camp Forrest, a major Army training base, during WW II. In a very short time, the population of the area jumped from about 4500 to more than 70000. Lot's of "action" then, and maybe still a little "action", across the way there.
