This is rated a two for difficulty only because it is multi and it does require some attention to detail.
This is a three-part cache that will introduce you to some of the history of this area. Along the way you will solve a couple of puzzles and, hopefully, take time to appreciate what some of the pioneers endured so that we can live here like we do. The scenery is pretty nice as well.
When you get to the posted coordinates find a plaque that is dedicated to one of the mid-twentieth century’s local civic leaders. Fill in the following numbers:
A = The last digit of the year in which he became a County Supervisor
B = The last digit of the year in which he ended his supervisorial career.
CDE = Subtract the year in which he began service from the year in which he ended service and then subtract the number of letters in his full name. Then add the third digit of the year of dedication. Multiply the result by ten.
FG = Subtract the year in which he began service from the year in which he ended service then subtract the number of letters in the ninth word of the plaque from the result.
H = Add all of the digits of the Parlor #..
I = The second digit of every year mentioned.
J = The number of letters in the first part of the city mentioned.
Your second stage is at N38 AB.CDE W122 FG.HIJ
You’ll find another plaque honoring a pioneer family. Solve for the following numbers:
K = The second digit of the dedication year minus the fourth digit.
L = The total of the digits of the dedication year minus the total of the digits of the year in which the family arrived.
M = The number of letters in the third word.
N = The number of times that the letter “N” appears on the sign.
O = The count of the most common letter of the first word.
P = The count of the most common letter in the man’s first name.
Q = The last digit of both of the years mentioned.
RST = The sum of the last digit of each year times the sum of the last digit of each year minus the sum of the last digit of each year.
Your final stage is at N38 KL.MNO W122 PQ.RST
You are looking for a large painted plastic container that once held chocolate coated almonds. There is plenty of room for trade and trackable items. Parking is located literally within feet of the cache. All three stages should be wheelchair accessible with the exception of perhaps the final grab itself. It should be a fairly easy snag but beware of the occasional passerby especially during certain times of the year. Also be advised that while there is no bushwhacking required, there are stickery (and sticky) plants in the area.
10/28/09 - We're adding a FTTF (First Time To Find) Award to the cache. It will especially be for the younger caches. They'll REALLY like it!
03/24/11 - It is still there. We'll repeat that things can be stickery and sticky so it will definitely help if you bring your stick to aid in your search.
