Geocache Description:

The Golden Rectangle or Section is said to be the most visually satisphying and ascetically pleasing geometric phorm. The Parthenon almost precisely phits in a Golden Rectangle. Many great artworks appear to be based on the Golden Rectangle.

Little known and poorly understood is that Colonel William Light used the Golden Rectangle to design elegant proportions for the layout of Adelaide and North Adelaide. The Golden Rectangle neatly matches the extents of South, East, North and West Terraces for Adelaide and Barton, Hill, Ward and Lefevre for North Adelaide.

The Golden Rectangle is a geometric form in which the ratio of the longer side to the shorter is the Golden Ratio, Phi. Within the Golden Rectangle lies the Golden Spiral. This mysterious logarithmic spiral is reported to be approximated by many natural forms, including shells, flowers, fruit and geocaches.

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science."--Einstein

"The good, of course, is always beautiful, and the beautiful never lacks proportion."--Plato

"Where there is matter, there is geometry."--Kepler
