Shouldn't be too hard at all.
All these holes were dug using spears and spades
in search of the valuable Kauri Gum.
Highly sort after by the early immigrant
Dalmatians who left their home land in search of a fortune on New
Zealand gum fields.
The whole area has been upgraded by DOC with new signs and picnic
tables.
It's well worth a stop and a nice area for a lunch break.

Also note the nearby Earth Cache
'Lake Ohia" which done together with this cache gives you a
good insight into how the early settlers would have lived and made
their money.
Watch the small ones as
some of the holes are close to the track and are quite
deep.
