Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the southwest corner of Ohio in Shawnee Lookout County Park. The park entrance is: N39 07.908, W084 47.846. The annual fee is $5, and will cover your entrance to any Hamilton County Park for the entire year. Miami Fort Trail. HCPD Permit No. 07102201.

After entering the park, drive to the end of the park road and hike the 1.4 mile Miami Fort Trail. This trail will take you through the remains of the old fort that used to sit atop this hill - an ancient fortification with a calculated construction date of about 270 A.D. The trail then continues out to the point. From the point, three states are visible (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana), as well as the mouth of the Great Miami River as it pours into the Ohio River. This is also a great place to take scenic photos and watch the sunset.

The fort trail is heavily traveled and you must use stealth when approaching the cache. People walking the trail can be seen from the cache site, and vice versa.

Stop and read the Indian historical data along the way and the Daniel Beard Memorial plaque.
