Piana delle Orme è un parco storico tematico realizzato per
ospitare una delle collezioni più grandi ed eterogenee al mondo:
aerei, carri armati, locomotive, carretti, radio, armi e centinaia
di mezzi militari, trattori agricoli, trebbiatrici, tram e
corriere, utensili e migliaia di oggetti di ogni tipo e misura.
Dedicato al Novecento, il complesso museale rappresenta un viaggio
attraverso 50 anni di storia italiana. 14 padiglioni tematici per
raccontare le tradizioni e la cultura della civiltà contadina, le
grandi opere di bonifica, la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, ma anche per
mostrare i veicoli e i mezzi agli albori della grande
industrializzazione e i giocattoli con i quali si divertivano i
bambini di una volta.

Piana delle Orme is a wide museum park running over 25.000 square
metres of showing area and divided into 11 thematic pavilions. The
museum building belongs to the farming concern Piana delle Orme and
consists of two main sections: * One includes following thematic
units: olden-times toys, life in the country and rural
civilization, the reclamation of the Pontine Marshes and the
colonization of the Pontine Plain. * The other one deals with the
events of the Second World War beginning from Italy's entry into
war, the defeat of El Alamein, the allied conquest of Sicily until
the ones regarding the local area such as Anzio landing and the
battle of Cassino. A collection of guinness-records: aircrafts,
ploughs, weapons, furniture of ancient artisan workshops, armoured
cars, trucks, cars , buses, old school-desks, bikes , barrels,
soldier's paraphernalia, jeeps, field glasses, carding machines,
wheel-barrows, tanks, farm carts, harrows, diggers, oil-mills,
vans, toys, steam-engines, type-writers, mills, motorcycles,
radios, half-trucks, musical instruments, shellers, telephones,
tubs wine-presses, tractors, treshing-machines, trains, uniforms
and great deal else. The pavilions of the exhibition deal with
following themes: Olden-Times Toys, Reclamation Of The Pontine
Marshes, Olden-Times Farming Machines, Life In The Country, Wartime
Military Vehicles, From El Alamein To Messina And Salerno, Anzio
Landing, Battle Of Cassino, Civilian Use Of War Surplus.
