The cache name has nothing to do with the movie or the Grateful
Dead lyrics, the latter of which was playing in my head when I hid
this cache. Ahem! Nor is there anything approximating a broke down
palace nearby.
This cache is along the right-of-way of a future extension to
the Western Maryland Rail Trail. It was once the right-of-way of
the Western Maryland Railroad. Access can be had from the adjacent
C&O Canal or by climbing to the old right-of-way once past the
aquaduct and railroad trestle.
Note: This cache is *not* on the steep hillside. Best
approach is to take your bike up onto the old RR bed at the Sidling
Hill Bridge and ride upriver to gz. Good Luck!
