Great Northern Trail 2 (West Yorks) Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

The Biffas: The area has become very overgrown with brambles since the cache was last found in July, and it would be difficult to find it now. It has done well to survive for almost 10 years, but it is time for it to go.
We will probably place a new cache along the trail in the future.

Geocache Description:

Scenic walk along part of the Great Northern Trail.
The path is tarmac and mainly flat.

The cache is accessible from the many public footpaths and the recently opened bridleway.

The Hewenden Viaduct is close by, and was built around 1880 to carry the Queensbury to Haworth railway line. At around 312 metres long and with 16 tall arches, it was finally closed in 1965 and has become Grade II listed.

The Great Northern Trail is currently being developed by Sustran and will eventually provide a walking/cycleway from Cullingworth to Queensbury, about 10 miles on tarmac.

The Trail is very popular with horse riders as well as cyclists and walkers, so stealth may be required.

Please replace the cache carefully and ensure that it is not visible. Thank you.
