Geocachers making this event a success:
Everyone!!!
WWFM Statistics:
83 Events worldwide
5 Continents
9 Canadian provinces
4400+ geocachers attended around the world
WWFM Georgetown Statistics:
2nd largest (out of 17) WWFM event in Canada
5th largest (out of 83) WWFM event in the World
This is a Flash Mob Event, part of the World Wide Flash
Mob occurring simultaneously around the globe organized by
iTrax and Foxtail of PodCacher. WWFM 2007 is the biggest
geocaching event worldwide. It is even larger and more popular than
mega events like Geowoodstock. Now's your chance to attend a World
Wide Flash Mob event and share in a part of geocaching history.
DATE: Saturday, November 10, 2007
TIME: 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM (only 15 minutes!)
WHERE: The Old Seed House Garden (it's a park).
Parking Lot entrance is off of Maple Ave.
PARKING: If the parking lot is full, then park on
one of the nearby side streets or by the Catholic High School on
Guelph St (Hwy 7). Do no park on Maple Ave.
GATHERING SPOT: Look for the familiar gc.com logo
on a large sign\banner. We'll be on the little sloping hill with
the 3 big rocks on top that backs onto Maple Ave...just go where
everyone else goes!
This Flash Mob gathering of geocachers will be only 15 minutes
long. Please post a WILL ATTEND log at some point between now and
no later than noon on the day of the event. You must be present and
sign the log sheet DURING the 15 minutes of the event to claim this
event as a find on geocaching.com. After 15 minutes…Everyone will
be gone!
This event will last exactly 15 minutes, not one second longer!
This event will be one small part of the WWFM (world-wide flash mob
event). This event (and all others around the globe in their
respective time zone) will begin precisely at 12:00PM EST on
Saturday, November 10th.
At exactly 12:00 PM (as determined by my GPS clock) someone will
hold up a sign, a container for log sheets will be placed nearby.
It is now time to converge to this location. As you arrive, please
be sure to take a "log sheet." Sign your log sheet and drop them
into the designated log container. Bring your own
pen. At the designated times indicated below, we will have
a “feast” and will take a group photo. At exactly 12:15PM, the log
sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be
evacuated without a trace. Only those participants whose names
appear on the log sheets may log THIS event.
Signed Log Sheets go in the Blue bucket.
Travel Bugs and Geocoins go in the Red
bucket.
Schedule of events:
Before 12:00 - Wait patiently in your vehicles or
wander around the area and enjoy the nice park. Or perhaps even try
your hand at the cache (GCZZXW) located in this park. However,
whatever you do, DO NOT socialize with any other geocachers. Keep
to yourself. Do not talk to anyone else. Mind your own business.
Pretend you don't know anyone. And most importantly, do not bother
the rabbit.
12:00 - Start of event. Look for a familiar
Geocaching sign and gather around. Take a log sheet, sign it and
drop it into the designated log container. Socialize with other
geocachers.
12:08 - Time to enjoy a wonderful feast. Food
will be served. It will be a delicious 1 course meal. (Probably
halloween candy).
12:12 - Assemble for a group photo, and
assemble FAST. Listen to the photographer for directions. Group
photo is taken.
12:14 - Get ready to leave. Start saying your
good-byes.
12:15 - LEAVE! GO! DEPART! VACATE! No one knows
you! Get as far away as possible! Do not mingle or chit-chat! The
log sheet container will be packed up. If you don't get your log in
it in time, you can't log the event. Anyone caught loitering in the
event area after the event will not be able to log the event. If
you want to continue with the other cache in the park, go away and
come back in 5 minutes.
If everything goes right we will have lots of
people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 15 minutes, holding
a geocaching event and then disappearing just as
quickly…This should be lots of fun and maybe even raise a
few muggle eyebrows!
