Geocache Description:

This park is too beautiful not to have a few more caches. You will be looking for a natural object which holds a small Container. I left a log book, pencil and three Pet Bugs from Hawaii.

From the Parking lot you may either take one of the well maintained trails through the Mansion grounds or walk a short distance up the road to the beginning of the Carriage Way. The carriage way was once the original entrance to the mansion and you may even stop for a micro along the way. The Mansion is now used for weddings and private parties but the grounds are open daily. There are information sign boards placed along the trails with interesting tidbits of history. Although not a requirement to log this cache, please include some of the history to share with your geocaching friends. I’ll start by saying the grounds were designed by the Olmsted Brothers of Boston. The Olmsted Brothers company was an influential landscape design firm in the United States, formed in 1898 by step-brothers John Charles Olmsted (1852-1920) and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. (1870-1957), who had inherited the nation's first landscaping practice from their father, Frederick Law Olmsted. This firm was a successor to the earlier firm of Olmsted, Olmsted and Eliot after the untimely death of their gifted partner Charles Eliot. The two brothers were also among the founding members of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and played an influential role in creating the National Park Service. Google that one They say that "Imitation is the highest form of flattery" so my friend Turtle should be highly flattered when he finds this cache.
