Geocache Description:

This is a simple PNG micro near a special area.

The Eastern Continental Trail is an unofficial hiking trail that begins in Key West, Florida and ends in Quebec. It includes many established trails, including the Florida National Scenic Trail, the Pinhoti, The Benton Mackaye trail, the Appalachian Trail, and the International Appalachian Trail. It also includes sections that are not established official trails, like the part from Key West to the Florida Trail.

This section of the ECT, or the "Keys-Glades Connector" is approximately 191 miles and begins by following US1. Between Key Largo and US 41, there are a couple of different route options. This hide is located along what is referred to as "the canal route." This route encompasses two established local trails that are part of the Miami Greenways - the Southern Glades Greenway and the Everglades Trail, and the cache location is at the transition between the two.

This cache is also along the roadway that leads to the Everglades National Park for the ecotourist traveling by car instead of foot!
