Geocache Description:

MARY S. YOUNG STATE RECREATION AREA
Carol's Stop

Mary S. Young Park is owned by Oregon State Parks, but operated through a cooperative agreement with the City of West Linn.  Located between Highway 43 and the Willamette River, Mary S. is a fantastic park with ~8 miles of hiking and biking trails, a large open leash-free dog area, soccer fields, and several nice beaches along the river.

I don't know who Carol was, but clearly she was loved by someone. They picked a great spot to honor her memory.

The trails are fairly simple, but if you're interested, the City of West Linn provides several options for trail maps.

If you stick with the main loop and visit all of my caches in the park, you should enjoy a nice ~3 mile hike. Some parts of the trails are fairly level, but some sections follow the ups and downs of the creeks in the area. And of course, it's downhill to the river and uphill coming back.

As with many caches in Oregon's forests, GPS reception may not be great.
