History of the site: Captain Black Tooth sailed the Cadillac and
Mitchell seas in the very early 1800's. For years he raided the
Indian camps in the area for their fine gold, silver , and women.
Around 1815 the Chippewa and Ottawa Indians teamed up with the
French and set out with over 100 canoes and 3 French Flat boats and
hit Captain Black Tooth's crew hard. Their burning ship ran aground
near this cache site and they buried the captain, some crew and
their treasure near the shore. The rest of the crew continued south
to Apple Island where they met their fate with Chief Pontiac.
While doing a research paper in school on Captain Black Tooth, I
found a treasure map but couldn't find the buried treasure cavern.
For 32 years, I have been looking. Now with the new Topo maps and
mapping programs of the area, I was able to find it!! The coords
are listed here. Be careful with kids and pets at the mouth of the
cavern. If you slip in, you may slide deep into the chamber rooms
and not be able to get back out!! Do not disturb any of the
remains.
The entrance is covered with a 2Ft x 2Ft Plywood. Use the
waypoint coords below.
The cache is not inside the cavern. That would have been too
dangerous. But, the coords are listed for you to check out the
entrance. This cache is loaded with kids trading items and jewels.
There is a First To Find Prize of an unactivated Geocoin.
Your logs should be in pirate speak. Here is a site to help:
