Close to I-80, this quiet park is a gem to explore and hike. Nice picnic areas, and museum with limited weekend hours. Cache is .18 mile from free parking area.
Just got back from 5500 mile road trip including family reunions in both Texas and Nebraska. To break the monotony of long hours of driving, we found caches in Texas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Nevada. Got skunked in Kansas (dad wasnt there!) but found fossils while looking, making the sweltering heat and humidity almost bearable. We had several farmers wondering, and two guys in a lookout tower on top of Battle Mountain in S.D. were watching with interest. Met other cachers in Texas, but they gave up before we found that one - must have been the 107' heat! It was fun to read the logs of travelers like us from other states. Many of the caches near the main highways were placed by people on road trips.
This cache is a fairly large black cammo metal box. It is slightly visible from the right direction. No need to get dangerous, (dont jump in the quarry!) its only a few feet off the trail.
