Wow, I can not believe it has been 1 year already! Yes!!! We
are approaching my favorite time of year, the Holidays! It is time
for our yearly event "Secret Santa Geocaching Style"! If you
played last year and had fun, let's do it again...If you did not
have a chance to play last year, please join us!
What is this
all about?
One of the
most popular holiday games, Secret Santa is a fun and easy way for
a group of friends to exchange gifts. Let’s mix Geocaching
with this fun game!
How is this
going to work?
Here is the
order of the events. They will be better explained in the
sections below:
1.
 First sign up!
This means log a “Will Attend” no later than
11/25/07.
2.
Take the
survey.

3.
GeoSecretSanta
will draw names and let you know who you got.
4.
Have fun
during the game period -- buying and secretly placing little
notes and small gifts.
5.
Attend the
event for the final exchange -- the time to bring the "main" gift
that you plan to give.
Taking the
survey…
The survey is
a helpful tool to let your Secret Santa know a little bit about
you. Please take a moment to fill out this online survey

sent to your Secret Santa by me.
Drawing
names…
The last day
to sign up is 11/25/07. The day after, I will draw all the
names and send individual emails containing who you got and the
information from the survey. This is exciting
already!
The game
period…
 There will be a number
of pre-defined locations for dropping Secret Santa’s little
gifts -- all in the Indianapolis area. The boxes will be
spread around town. I am currently working on setting these
up. The reason for being pre-defined is that the locations
have to be easily accessible, so children can also
participate. The coordinates for these boxes will be
given to you by email, when the time comes.
Now the fun
part! The game will be played during the period from 11/26/07 to
12/07/07. During this period, place little gifts to your
person in one of the pre-defined locations. There is no limit of
items you can give, and little gifts can also be things like
notes/cards, you do not necessarily need to spend money.
Creativity is the key!!! (Just be mindful of how often you
leave something for your person). I am positive there will be a lot
of very creative cachers out there! Have fun during this time!
Surprise your person and make him/her wonder who you
are!!!
This is not
when you give your "main" gift. This time is just for dropping off
little teaser gifts, just like stocking stuffers. Maybe they can be
clues about who you are...or something to completely fool
them!
On an
important note: Contact me when you place a gift so I can
post a note in this event to let your person know that s/he should
visit a box...
The Final
Exchange…
The final
exchange will be held on Saturday, 12/08/07. This will be when you
bring your "main" gift to give your person. I am suggesting the
total amount for each person to spend to be $20.00. This should
include the little gifts and the final exchange.
Time = 2
PM.
The location
is *NOT* on the posted coordinates. The posted
coordinates take you to the monument circle, the very center of
Indianapolis. I chose these coordinates, so everybody around
Indy could be notified when the event is
published.
The event will
be held in the Ft. Harrison's park -- CAMP GLENN RECREATION
BUILDING -- Building 701

Important
note: ENTRANCE FEE IS $5 SATURDAY, and $7 FOR CARS
WITH NON RESIDENT TAGS. THIS IS PAID THE 1ST TIME IN, YOUR RECEIPT
WILL SERVE AS AN IN/OUT PASS FOR BALANCE OF STAY. ANNUAL PERMITS
ARE AVAILABLE.
Everyone be
prepared to have FUN: we will be having DulcimerGuy and
MandolinGirl playing some Christmas songs, AND poppagoth will also
play some tunes for us!
NextWaypoint
and Jaypit collected donations, so we will be having some items
raffled off, including a backpack filled with geocaching
goodies. I am looking forward to seeing you all! See
