sul lago di Lugano.

Morcote è un bellissimo paesino
situato sulla parte svizzera del Lago di Lugano, nel canton
Ticino.
Molti considerano questa cittadina come la "perla del Ceresio",
grazie alla sua particolare struttura, fatta da piccoli ma
caratteristici vicoli e grazia alla naturale bellezza della sua
posizione sul lago.
Sotto l'egemonia dei signori di Milano nell'epoca Medievale e dopo
numerose sventure, Morcote fu il porto principale del Lago ceresio
dei beni dall'Italia sino alla costruzione del ponte diga di
Melide.
Si racconta che nel XIV secolo la Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate non
fosse in grado di contenere il numero dei fedeli e per questo gli
abitanti di Morcote decisero di far edificare una chiesa nel luogo
sacro dove nel 1313 fu trovata una statuetta di pietra che
raffigurava la Madonna.
Costruita tra il 1462 e il 1478, ma subì diverse modifiche nella
fine del 1500 e nella metà del XVIII secolo. All'interno è
possibile ammirare un bellissimo organo proveniente dal varesotto,
datato 1700, che fu messo dove sorgeva l'antico abside. I numerosi
affreschi sia della navata principale che delle cappelle laterali
rendono la chiesa veramente piacevole ed interessante. Poco
distante dalla chiesa si trova il Battistero. |

Morcote is a small cute village
located on the swiss side of the Lugano Lake, in the Ticino
canton.
Many consider this village as the "Pearl of Ceresio", thanks to
its particular structure, made of small but very characteristic
alleys, and thanks to the natural beauty of its lakefront
position.
Owned by the families of Milano during the middle ages, and after
many unlucky episodes, Morcote was the main port of the ceresio
Lake for the goods from northern Italy before the building of the
dam-bridge of Melide.
It is told that during the XIV century the Church of Sant'Antonio
Abate wasn't able to contain the people so the inhabitants of
Morcote decided to build a church on the sacred location where, in
1313, was found a small statue in stone representing the Virgin
Mary.
The Church was build between 1462 and 1478, but it has been
modified many times at the end of the 1500 and in the half of the
XVIII century. In the inside it can be admired a wonderful organ,
originally from the area near Varese dated 1700, that has been
placed on the original position of the antique apse. On the wall
there are many interesting paintings, located on the main nave and
on the lateral chapels. Just outside there is the
Baptistry. |
Il cache è stato nascosto lungo il sentiero che
parte da uno degli ingressi della chiesa, e che passa a lato del
Battistero. E' un tupperware con tappo blu, avvolto in un sacchetto
di plastica, tutto ricoperto da pietre.
Il livello del terreno è stato portato a 2 proprio per l'ultimo
metro che divide il sentiero dal cache. Per favore rimettere il
cache al suo posto con molta attenzione e copritelo come lo avete
trovato, così non può essere visto accidentalmente. Il segnale GPS
può essere molto debole (e questo spiega il livello di difficoltà a
1.5).
Il contenitore e buona parte degli oggetti all'interno del
cache sono stati forniti da Nuova_Leva, come regalo a tutti i
partecipanti al suo evento "Pizza Event 2007" a Cervia, Italia.
Nascondere il cache in un posto così bello è stato un
piacere.

The cache has been hidden along the path that
starts from one of the entrance of the church, passing by the
Baptistry. It is a tupperware box with a blue top, wrapped in a
plastic bag, covered by stones.
The terrain level has been set to 2 just because the last meter,
from the path to the cache location. Please place the cache back
very carefully and cover it like you found it so it cannot be seen
accidentally. The GPS signal there is very weak (and this explain
the 1.5 difficult level).
The container and most of the trading items in the inside have
been provided by Nuova_Leva, as a present to all the attendant to
his event "Pizza Event 2007" in Cervia, Italy. Placing the cache in
such a nice place has been a pleasure.
