Okay, new idea. Hmmmm are there really any new ideas in geocaching
or are there just ideas that have already been done elsewhere and
we have not seen them yet. I have not heard of this and you may or
may not appreciate the idea.
This will be a traditional type cache but due to logging
requirements will need to be listed as a puzzle/mystery cache.
I've placed a micro container at the posted coordinates. The
container is hiden in a pine tree with not much else around. It is
a micro but you will find it in the first fork of the tree. It's
not a large tree so I'd guess it to be about 3.5/4' off the ground.
NOT a difficult find. Now... you may like to rush right out and try
to FTF the cache. While you will be able to be the first to sign
the container log you may not necessarily be the cacher to claim
the FTF for the cache.
Here's the scoop.
Once you have found the cache and signed the log you can then
write a note on the cache page. Remember... you must first find the
cache and sign/date the physical cache log before you can write a
note. In that note you will need to make a guess at a number. What
number should you guess at? I'll tell you. I've pre-selected a
number that is somewhere between 1-1000 inclusively (could be 1,
could be 1000 or could be any whole number in between. If you guess
the number correctly I will confirm that you are correct and then
you (and those before you that found the cache but guessed
incorrectly) may log the find. If you are the first to guess the
correct number then you will be able to claim the FTF. An FTF will
be declared for each Game completed.
However, if you guess incorrectly (and you get only one guess)
you will have to wait until someone else finds the cache, signs the
log, and writes a note with the correct number.
Now I understand that with a 1 in 1000 shot it could take a long
time before someone guesses correctly. I can speed that up
considerably.
As each person finds the cache and writes a note with their
guess, I will update the cache page adding the latest guess plus an
indication as to weather the guess is too high, too low or...
exactly right on.
When you make your guess you could pick a number that might not
be so useful in helping to narrow things down or you could make a
smart choice and try and halve the possibilities.
For example... if you guess 1 and 1 is not right then the page
will be updated with your guess and my response will be: HIGHER.
That won't help anyone much.
So remember... even if you don't get an FTF you still need
someone to guess the correct number before you can claim a find and
log the cache.
If everyone makes a smart guess then the 10th cacher to make a
guess could possibly KNOW the answer and be FTF.
How cool would it be though if you were the first guesser and
got it right the first guess.
Once the number is correctly determined and the FTF established
I will then select a new number and start the puzzle over. Anyone
game for this game?
The first 3 games have been concluded. All of the players from
Game #1 and Game #2 may now grab a smiley. Congrats to all
(especially those that guess the number correctly nad can claim an
FTF. We're ready to start Game #2. A new number for Game #3 has
been selected. Good luck tgo all.
Background image has nothing to do with the correct number.
There is no puzzle. I strictly selected a number at random. For
Game number 3 t he random number has been generated by waling
around my office and asking 3 different people to choose a number
between 0-9. I wrote those 3 numbers down in order as they were
guessed. GL and have fun.
