Geocache Description:

Cross County Communicator

About 30 years ago there was a plan to build a Circle Freeway outside of I-275. It was planned to pass through this area. Federal funding was granted to build a bridge across the Licking River at Visalia. It was stated then that another bridge would be built along side when the new road was built. The road was to be called the Outer Belt Circle Freeway or the OKI Beltline. Plans for this road never matured. Then, a road was planned called the Cross County Highway. It was to closely follow the route that had been planned for the Circle Freeway. Several meetings were held and there was so much opposition to the plan that it was shelved. Now the area is developing at a rapid pace and an east/west road is needed in the area. Boone and Kenton Counties are improving the route of 536 and Campbell County improved part of the old Pond Creek Road and built a connector from US27 at this intersection to the intersection of Licking Pike and what is now called Creek Trace (the old Pond Creek Road). There are plans to extend the road going east to connect this area with the Double A Highway. Would have been much easier and cheaper if they would have used the Feds plan way back when.
It took you longer to read this than it will to find this cache. You can almost, but not quite, retrieve this cache from your car. Only room for a log so bring your own writing instrument.

The following message is from CharlesIsland, who I believe, is the originator of this series.
Whether this is your first communicator cache or another in the series you will enjoy this multi-State series involving many different types of communicators and cache containers. As I continue to travel the country and meet new geocachers this series will continue to grow. I have plans of setting up prize caches per state and an ultimate prize for goecachers that find every cache in the series. To view the other caches in this series please refer to the bookmark list on the cache page. “The Communicator Series”.
Special thanks to those of you that have helped to add caches to this series. Some of you have been willing to provide maintenance while others have published caches to be added to this series. If you are interested in helping to promote and grow this series please email CharlesIsland through the geocaching website. Thanks for your help and happy caching.
