At this location, above the garage doors, is some California- and energy-themed sculpture, courtesy of the local utility.
This is a simple offset cache.
The sculpture of interest (which happens to be recursive!) contains a digital multimeter that displays a five-digit number VWXY.Z.
A = Y - X
B = W
C = Y + W
D = Z - Y
E = Z - W
F = Y - V
The cache is at N 37°50.ABC, W 122°17.DEF (approx distance 0.2 miles).
It is a log-only magnetic nano. Bring your own pen.
The difficulty rating of 2.5 reflects the probability of muggles during business hours and the effort required to find and extract the cache from its hiding place. The cache should be approached from the sidewalk; it is not necessary to enter the adjacent urban park to find the cache. Please note that the adjacent park has hours 8:00am to sunset.
Feb 10, 2008: I moved the final cache to a new (and hopefully more robust) location and updated the calculations and the hint accordingly.
Mar 22, 2008: Updated calculations and coordinates for final location based on cloversmom's experience.
Nov 28, 2009: Increased Difficulty rating from 1.5 to 2.5, to align better with the effort required to find and extract the cache from its hiding place.
Jan 11, 2010: Modified cache description to recommend approaching the final cache location from the sidewalk.
