Geocache Description:

Above coordinates are for parking NOT for the cache.

Tim Hortons is a name most of us are familiar with these days ... and some of us are even quite addicted to its coffee. But since it's birthplace in Hamilton, Ontario to the present, the name Tim Hortons has increasingly grown to be known as a chain, rather than a person. Tim Horton is a legendary hockey player who played for numerous teams and led them to quite a few Stanley Cups. Retrospectively, he lived a seemingly glorious life on the outside, but in reality, it was rather sad and small on the inside.

It's become apparent years after his death now that he was a bit of a drunkard, and his marriage life was less than desirable. His life came to an end one morning while driving to a hockey practice on the QEW from Toronto to Buffalo. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when he lost control of his car and collided with the median guardrail, where upon impact was hurled from his vehicle and died instantly. An Autopsy revealed Horton's blood alcohol level was double the legal limit, as well as finding traces of painkillers in him. As a result, the Sabres retired his number in respect and commemoration to all of his accomplishments throughout his hockey career, all to which are almost forgotten today.

The fast-food chain that he left behind is today a rapidly growing and changing industry introducing new products and ideas constantly. Some of the establishments still to this day have portraits of Tim hanging from their wall, and people just pass on by without giving a thought or a second look. The chain continues to develop today into a multi million dollar business. I don't think Tim ever imagined how successful the business would become, nor will he ever know.

It’s your turn now to find some facts and do some digging…
