The original plastic container measuring 6" x 10" x 2" deep went missing many years ago. The replacement didn't last too long, so an emergency fix was put in place on 6/7/13. 11+ years later, as of 9/29/24, a new 7.5" x 5.1" x 3.1" official GC Pelican case is in place to replace a damaged container. I changed it to "Small" and there is not a lot of extra room for much else but the log. Hopefully this one lasts a while. The cache is a clear box in a clearing near/under a few largish logs. It tends to move around but the original hint still applies in that it's still hidden under medium-sized tree logs and further hidden by a couple of pieces of wood.
Old note that I'm keeping for posterity's sake - I have verified that the stash was still there on Monday January 15 2001.
UPDATE!!! This cache has been around for a long while. It may be the oldest active cache in Virginia!!!
It was first listed as GCEE. See original listing here I confirmed with the original owner Drew, that the cache was in fact placed on 17 Dec 2000 but was never found until the coordinates were updated using a different datum. He also stated that he relisted the same cache with the updated coordinates as shown above a few weeks later after confirming it was still in the same spot he placed it.
The cache is still covered by logs (and leaves at certain times of the year) although it has migrated slightly over the years. The coordinates have been updated to reflect the current location. Since it is very near a heavily traveled path, please be discrete and rehide it well. I have modified the difficulty slightly to account for the not quite hard packed and unlevel terrain, level of concealment and the fact that the clue, while accurate, may not be of much aid.
Note: There may be a fee to enter the park at certain times of the year for Non-County residents. See: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/burke-lake/entrance-fees
