Creekside Campout & Chili Extravaganza Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

flyingpita: Thanks to all the great cachers that showed up for the event. It was so much fun to meet new people and see some old ones too...you know who you are!
It looks like I may have to make this an annual party.
And maybe next year IceCreamMan won't run himself over with his own jeep just to get out of coming. LOL
Till we meet on the trail or team up in Geitner Park in Hickory (April 12, 2008) for the latest CITO, have fun out there!!

Geocache Description:

Please Join Us in Marion, NC

On Saturday, January 12, 2008

1:00 pm till sometime the next day

For some Food, Finds, Fellowship and Fun at the:

Creekside Campout & Chili Extravaganza

All Geocachers, Terracachers, Friends and Family (including the dogs!) are welcome!!

The posted coords are for our farmland. We've got plenty of parking and there is no entrance fee. We're just off I-40 at exit 83-Ashworth Rd. One exit west of Highway 221. Head north on Ashworth for 1 mile and look for the entrance on your right. Follow the driveway down and over the creek, you’ll see us at the barn!

We’ll have lot’s to do all day as we play in the pasture of our farm-to-be. Meet some new cacher’s and swap some caching stories with old friends, exchange travel bugs, play horseshoes, warm yourself beside the bonfire and don’t forget to make your own boat for the Creek Race along the banks of ‘Lulu’s Creek’.

It wouldn’t be a January event without a Chili Cook-off!

Sample and vote for your favorite cacher’s Pot-o-Chili then feast on the Extravaganza of Chili and Fixin’s! Bring your favorite side dish and something to drink.
We’ll have all the Chili you can eat, plus Hot Dogs cooked on the grill, and a giant birthday cake for the January babies (You know who you are).

Some event caches will be placed on trails that travel up the mountain and down into the ravines on the upper part of the farm, for the hikers, bikers and 4-wheelers to find.
There are also lot’s of geo’s and terra’s hidden around Marion and spectacular Linville Gorge is just minutes away.

Everyone's welcome to camp with us along the creek overnight Saturday. Bring your tents or RV’s! We’ll tell ghost stories around the bonfire, enjoy some adult beverages and roast some marshmallows. It’s primitive camping for the hardiest of souls, but there are the following hotels just a mile and a half up the road:
Hampton Inn 828-652-5100
Super 8 Motel 828-659-7940
Days Inn 828-659-2567
