On the West Side of the Great Orme in N. Wales, a gentle walk at sea level and a little historical interest
This is the first cache I have placed along with my wife and son no. 3. I chose the place for it's interesting location, historical and wildlife, and memories since as a young boy I sometimes visited.
The site is formerly a military base for the Royal Artillary Coast Artillary School training over 700 personnel at their peak and also acting as a base for the local home guard battery defences. The buildings have since gone but the access roads and foundations remain to give an impression of the site.
To access the area best to park at West Shore promenade near boating lake and walk along the road skirting the Orme. Otherwise a much shorter walk would be required if parking at N53 19.708 W003 51.621 - drive along road until just before no entry sign (one way past there) and turn left.
Walk along the road and enter the site via the gate, look out for the information board on the left.
The cache is located just off the main path , no need to go scrambling up the Ormeside.
